Looking for a nice protected dispersed camping spot close to the Grand Canyon? Look no further – this is a great spot to spend some time in the woods!
This is the Spring 2019 dispersed camping spot we used between The Mexican Hat rock formation and the San Juan River…
There are a couple of spots along the dirt road that runs behind the Mexican Hat rock formation – this is the largest one. It has enough room for groups, with potential for multiple tents (and fires.) There is one nice fire ring, and the views are amazing.
Very quiet, but can be messy when raining – red dirt gets everywhere! There is a path behind the site going to the river’s edge. Enough concealment to do business back there as well (natural/burying.)
